Applications Now Open for the Morehead-Cain Global Fellowship Program!

The application system is now open. Please make sure to review the application requirements carefully below before submitting your application through the system.

Students who would like to submit their applications through our website are requested to ensure meeting the following requirements:

  1. Since this is essentially an exchange program, only students enrolled in departments that match those at the receiving university are encouraged to apply. These departments may encompass fields such as:

Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Education and Educational Technology, Computer Engineering, Economics, Educational Sciences, Guidance and Psychological Counseling, History, International Trade, Law, Linguistics, Management, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, Mathematics and Science Education, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science and International Relations, Psychology, Sociology, Tourism Administration, Translation and Interpreting Studies, Western Languages and Literatures.

  1. To be enrolled in one of the above stated undergraduate programs at Boğaziçi University and have completed at least two academic years (excluding the English preparatory education) consisting of 2 spring and 2 fall terms. 

Students who will have completed their 4th semester as of July 2025 are also eligible to apply. In case their applications proceed, they must complete their spring semester successfully.

  1. To remain enrolled at Boğaziçi University for at least one more semester (excluding summer terms) following their return from the exchange program in scope of the Fellowship. (Students are expected to plan to graduate in Spring 2027 or after.)

The students in their fourth year are not eligible to apply.

  1. To have a minimum GPA of 3.00/4.00. (as of the date of application)
  2. Not to have received any disciplinary penalties.

Application Documents will include:

  • an official transcript
  • a letter of recommendation from one of your home department instructors
  • a letter of intent
  • a video essay (a recorded message by the applicant)
  • English language score report is not compulsory (If available, you may submit it as an additional document such as TOEFL, IELTS, BUEPT)
     

Important Notes:

  • Applications submitted through our Office will be collected to be added to the main application pool of the Morehead-Cain Foundation, as part of the cooperation between the Foundation and Boğaziçi University.
  • All eligible applications collected by our Office will be directly transferred to the Foundation.
  • Office of International Relations at Boğaziçi University will not evaluate the applications, the Foundation will handle the evaluation and selection process.
  • Finalists will be notified and interviewed by the Foundation.
  • The final results are expected to be announced on late March by the Foundation.
  • If the Morehead-Cain Foundation continues to accept applications via their website after the above deadline for applications submitted through our office, applicants may still submit directly to the Foundation.
  • Freshman students in their first year of study are not eligible to apply for the program. However, they may apply during the designated application period for subsequent years.
  • Candidates must adhere to all requirements set by the Program they will pursue at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as part of the Fellowship.
