As amember university of The Mediterranean Universities Union (UNIMED) we are pleased to announce that the application of the Strat Cup Competition is now open.
About Start Cup Competition
The “Start Cup Competition – Entrepreneurship in the Mediterranean” is a contest of entrepreneurial ideas developed by university students enrolled in one of the universities around the Mediterranean. This competition aims to encourage participating teams from universities on both shores of the Mediterranean to present innovative ideas in the field of entrepreneurship.
The initiative was launched in 2018 in the framework of the ERASMUS+ Capacity Building project RESUME and is part of a series of initiatives organised by the UNIMED SubNetwork on Employability, whose objective is to promote cooperation between members on the theme of entrepreneurship and employability and to strengthen economic and social cohesion by promoting, on the one hand, cross-border, transnational and interregional cooperation, and on the other hand, sustainable local development.
The Start Cup Competition is jointly organized by UNIMED and the Lebanese University, coordinator of the UNIMED SubNetwork on Employability, with the collaboration of the European Training Foundation (ETF) and the support of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie – Moyen Orient.
The “Start Cup Competition 2025” event will be hosted this year by the University of Calabria, Italy on July 8th, 2025 in the framework of the UNIMED General Assembly that will be held on July 9th and 10th, 2025 at the University premises in Rende (Calabria).
The event is a competition of innovative entrepreneurial ideas developed by university students enrolled in one of the universities around the Mediterranean.
The first edition of the Start Cup Competition took place in Messina in September 2018 in the framework of the RESUME project and it has now become a yearly activity of the UNIMED SubNetwork on Employability.

How to apply?
Students who wish to apply for the contest as a team must express their interest by submitting an email to globalprograms@bogazici.edu.tr no later than February 19, 2025. In the application e-mail, the team members need to provide
- Departments the team members are registered
- Student numbers of each students
- Contact details of the students
- Contact details of the team leader
- A brief summary of the entrepneneurship project/idea
The teams will be nominated to the responisble committees of the Start Cup Contest by the Office of International Relations at our university.
